Teaching nonvocal children with autism to request for missing items

This systematic replication was designed to teach nonvocal children with autism mand for missing items using an Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) system. Consistent Rodriguez et al. (2017) and Wójcik (2020), we used the interrupted chain procedure EO-present EO-absent trials. al., 2020, sufficient exemplar training activity schedules establish manding items. Participants were three autism, design a nonconcurrent multiple-baseline across participants. Following training, all participants requested during trials correctly refrained from making requests trials, suggesting that requesting AAC system established as verbal operant controlled by appropriate EO, hence, mand. Correct behavior transferred new tasks, skill domains, people, settings, time.
